Cisco VPN Unavailable as of June 2, 2008
Information Technology Services announces that the Cisco VPN will be removed from service at Binghamton University on June 2, 2008. Beginning on that date, you must use Juniper SSL VPN for off-campus access to University systems or for on-campus systems that previously required Cisco VPN for access.

Information Technology Services Warns of Phishing Scams
Information Technology Services has been notified about two recent e-mail phishing scams from accounts claiming to be Binghamton University e-mail addresses and asking recipients to send their passwords via a reply e-mail.

SSL VPN Replaces Cisco VPN
Information Technology Services (ITS) announces the immediate availability of the BU SSL VPN. The SSL VPN is a more convenient, secure and safe way for off-campus users to connect to on-campus network resources such as email, network data drives (H drive) and other network resources. The SSL VPN is the replacement for the Cisco VPN which will be phased out midyear 2008.

Proposed Changes in Security for Wireless Network Outside Residence Halls
Faculty, staff, students who live off-campus and visitors who use the wireless network are accustomed to seeing the Bluesocket logon screen when they first fire up a web browser. ITS is proposing to replace Bluesocket with Campus Manager. Several ITS networking staff will demonstrate the change, discuss the technical effects of that change and provide users with the opportunity to explore the consequences of the change.

"Storm" Surge Likely Spam Culprit
Storm, the Trojan horse that collects PCs into hacker-controlled botnets has become the most prolific e-mail-borne malware ever. According to a computerworld.com article, Storm is designed to propagate more copies of itself, as well as release huge quantities of spam.

BU Student Pod Passwords Will Expire on Wed., Aug 15
Important Information for All Binghamton University Students: On August 15, 2007, your Pod password will expire, and you will need to reset it. This change is being made to strengthen security and better comply with FERPA regulations. To reset your Pod password, navigate to busi.binghamton.edu and click on the Change POD Password link. Resetting your “Pod” password will NOT reset your BU email password.
