Binghamton University Wireless Networks/SSIDs

CONNECT2BU

Connect2BU is the wireless network for Binghamton University guests and is the point of entry for Binghamton University students, faculty and staff connecting a device to the busecure wireless network for the first time.
Connect2BU is an unencrypted wireless network and is limited in scope, duration and capacity. Any device with Wi-Fi enabled will automatically detect Connect2BU.

If you are a guest choose Connect2BU in the list of available wireless networks, connect to it, open a browser and click Continue. You are now connected.

If you are a Binghamton University student, faculty or staff member connecting a device to the busecure wireless network for the first time choose Connect2BU in the list of available wireless networks, connect to it, open a browser and click on the link 'Click here to use JoinNow'  to automatically configure wireless devices for busecure (Recommended).

BUSECURE

busecure provides encrypted wireless access using the WPA2 protocol and is the recommended wireless network for all students, faculty and staff.

Clients will have to configure their wireless devices for the WPA2 environment and authenticate using their Binghamton University Computer Account (PODS) user id and password.
The privilege of network access implies you have read and understand the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). By signing in to busecure you are agreeing to the terms of the AUP.

It is strongly recommended that the operating system of your computing device has all current updates and that anti-virus software is installed, updated and running.

Use SecureW2 JoinNow to automatically configure wireless devices for busecure (Recommended for all devices except Android).

BUGAMING

Game systems or devices that have a browser and are WPA2 compatible must use busecure to connect.
The unencrypted wireless network bugaming is available for 1st or 2nd generation gaming devices, e-readers and other mobile devices that do not support WPA2 and/or do not have browsers and cannot access busecure.

From a device with an internet connection, clients can log into the Game Device Registration Portal
using their Binghamton University Computer Account (PODS) user ID and password to register their devices.
After a successful registration on the Game Device Registration Portal connect the device to bugaming*.

* the 'Pending' status displayed on the game device registration page remains long after the device is registered.
This is a software glitch that will be fixed in the next version.  Please try connecting the device to bugaming.
